Shout out from RiNickulous
October 28, 2008
Greetings Rock Band Nation,
What's the good word? It's your main man on the mic RiNickulous on the road with all the Rock Band Live tour insider information. As the official tour emcee, I wanted to give you an all access pass to the Rock Band Live Tour. We have just completed the first half of the tour, where we’ve traveled from San Diego up to Seattle and through the Midwest, with lots of great places in between. Each morning I ride shot gun with our tour bus driver D Love, and between his stories from the road and the beautiful scenery I encounter each day, I truly realize how fortunate I am to be part of the Rock Band Live tour.
All the bands on the tour are uber cool and so are the fans along the way. At each stop, fans are given the chance to play Rock Band 2 on one of four playing stations and battle it out to be the top scoring band. It is at this point that we get to make dreams become reality by giving the winning band the opportunity to open for some of the hottest bands on the scene! All of the winners so far have been awesome, however there are a few that stand out in my mind. I Don't Care, an all female band in Chicago mastered Alanis Morisette’s "You Oughta Know". Also, in Los Angeles, Mudd with a Vengeance, featuring special guest lead singer, Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd rocked “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi, while the arena joined in to sing the chorus.
Speaking of bands, the bands on this tour have consistently rocked the crowds night after night. The Cab, the opening band from Las Vegas, is so excited to be on this arena tour after playing coffee shops just months ago. The Plain White Ts swoon the crowds, and “Delilah” gets them pulling out their cell phones every time. Dashboard Confessional has been having a lot of fun with the crowd. Recently they started covering "So What" by Pink and bringing up the The Cab and Plain White Ts to help them out. Last but never least Panic At The Disco has fans losing their minds with their version of the classic "Shout". Backstage is always a fun place where the bands are constantly playing practical jokes on each other and hanging out playing Rock Band 2 in their dressing rooms.
I have to get on stage to start the show now, but I am looking forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming shows. Keep checking in as you never know what I’ll have to share with you in the future.
Remember don't just have dreams, live them.
